All of the pages are narrated by Liz (me) and the narration will vary in size—when I have more pictures, there'll be less text (in theory). Most photos will have text if you place the cursor over the image. If you click the smaller images, a larger version will open in a new window.

The collection on this site is only part of the hundreds of photos we took in Ireland. If you want to see all of them, you need to stop by.

Day 6

We headed out of Sligo and drove the few hours up to Coleraine and Ballycastle to visit the Giant's Causeway. On the ride up it rained so, knowing our luck, the afternoon would be beautiful.

Wow the clouds are low....     So I thought I would get some pictures.     And then it rains....     And rains...

We made it to Coleraine in good time and stopped for lunch. The city was unbelievably quiet—I felt rude speaking above a whisper. From what we could tell, the unearthly quite was due to the lack of cars within the city center.

After we finished our wanderings, we drove out to the Giant's Causeway. On the way, Josh stopped so I could take pictures of the coastline.

The from where we parked.     Distant boats.     Not-so-distant boats after the zoom.     Looking left

Looking right     I believe this is a view of Dunluce Castle

Giant's Causeway

The Giant's Causeway was impressive, although it felt a bit like a beach. So it wasn't as impressive as I was imagining. We walked along a cliff and then wandered down to the Causeway. Around this time, Josh began taking some pictures.

Danger! Danger! Danger!     A distant view of the organ formation.     Along the upper path.     I beleive this is the ledge the vertigo-laden Josh walked out on. He stopped only a few feet from the edge. Go Josh!

I believe this was on the middle trail.     This is, I think, my favorite picture of the whole trip.     Josh got down with the camera. The rocks to my right is an example of the rock formations at the Giant's Causeway.     More formations.

The rock formations were caused by crystalized basalt magma.     The Giant's Causeway is what the people are walking on.     Josh getting down AGAIN with the camera trying to get the waves crashing. This is the rest of the causeway.     A closeup courtesy of Josh, who normally never takes pictures.

I, of course, had to try to get crashing waves.     And again.     A final shot walking out.

Dunluce Castle

On the drive from the Giant's Causeway back to Coleraine, near where we were staying, we passed Dunluce Castle. We decided not to pay to tour the castle, but instead admired the ruins from outside.

It was now after 5:00 so we went to our B&B. The lady of the house reminded us of a grandmother, not one of ours but one of the grandmothers you see on TV. Even with the religious needlepoints every two feet, I would recommend this B&B.

The lady of the house recommended a little pub down the street. This was the first restaurant we went to with people smoking inside. It's amazing how much smoking sticks out when you become used to a smoke-free environment. Josh and I both had a very tasty Hawaiian burger and then went home to sleep. Tomorrow we would be backtracking.
